Kathy Goughenour Vroom Veer Stories
- Grew up in Ferguson MO; her mom didn't want to have kids, since she did she pretended she didn't have kids
- When Kathy asked her mom if she could go to college her mom asked her “who do you think you are that you get to go to college?”; so she went to Miss Hickey's School for Secretaries in St Louis
- Landed her first job at an insurance company; she was 18 and it was much like the TV show Mad Mad; her boss was literally chasing her around his desk; everyone was smoking in the office all day
- Met her 1st husband on the bus and he worked for the phone company; told her she could do the same job for 2x the money so she did; started as a secretary but learned how to do marketing in school and got a marketing job
- Asked her boss how to get a promotion; he said get an MBA; so she got an MBA; still no promotion; she asked why; he said “because you smile and laugh too much”; six months later she quit
- Her husband got a six month gig in Canada; she started looking for a place to live after Canada and started making suggestions to realtors about how to improve their websites and marketing; one decided to pay her to do it
- Worked as a VA in real estate with marketing until 2008; then she had to find a new niche; in the new niche she had more work than she could handle so she needed help; started training VAs to help her…new biz! Training VAs!
