Sonia Frontera is the survivor of a toxic marriage who has been happily remarried for 14 years. Through the years, she has supported domestic violence survivors as an advocate, speaker and empowerment trainer. She is a Certified Canfield Success Principles Trainer and offers inspirational workshops and retreats.

- Grew up in Puerto Rico as a sheltered child; very academic nerd, really got upset with grades less 100%; not really an overachiever
- She wanted to be a journalist; unfortunately her father didn’t want to pay for a “soft” degree; the compromise was a business/journalism double major at Syracuse University
- Syracuse New York was a big “weather” shock moving from Puerto Rico; Sonia had an amazing college experience; studied hard and played hard; now wishes she would have studied a little less and had more fun
- During last semester college, she started dating her 1st husband for 3 years before she got married; on the plane going to the honeymoon he told her “this is how it’s going to be now” that they were married; this began years of psychological abuse
- She was in an abusive marriage and a job she hated; decided to go to law school which turned out a positive and empowering environment
- While traveling in a foreign country, her husband started berating her in public, but this time, Sonia made the decision to divorce him; after that, the rest was just details
- After the divorce, she didn’t date anyone for four years; she took up hiking and joined a community of women who liked to hike and travel
- Met her current husband online while she was looking for a travel companion; after dating for seven years she realized that he was a keeper
- Sonia can’t wait to start hosting live workshops to help people with relationships, and how to end their marriages amicably, as well as recover from divorce and abuse
